Sharks Ink Rasmus Asp

by Jake Johnson

Elmira N.Y.- The Elmira River Sharks have signed defenseman Rasmus Asp for the upcoming season. Asp was brought over from Delaware in the dispersal draft earlier this summer. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden. Rasmus Asp is a 23-year-old, 6’4” defenseman. Asp will look to bring his size and physicality to the back 6 for Elmira. In 25 games, he had 5 goals and 7 assists last year.

Here’s what Head Coach Tyler Gjurich had to say about Asp, “Rasmus is a big and strong d man who will bring a ton of offensive ability as well. Bringing in a 6’4” defenseman like him will be huge for us this season. He will definitely be a key part in the River Sharks success this season.”

The Sharks have added defenseman on back-to-back days as they continue to build up their blue line. They see it as a point of emphasis for this coming season. Stay tuned for more player announcements in the following days.
