River Sharks Add NY Native

by Jon Kliment

Today the Elmira River Sharks of the Federal Prospects Hockey League are proud to announce they have signed Defenseman Gehrig Lindberg to their roster.

Lindberg, a 20-year-old from East Aurora, NY spent the last two years playing hockey north of the border playing in 81 games with the GOJHL’s Niagara Falls Canucks tallying 41 points and 90 penalty minutes, while also wearing the Captain’s C during his second season. In addition to regular season success Gehrig laced up his skates for 10 playoff games in Niagara Falls adding 3 points in 10 games. After the season concluded Lindberg went onto play 6 playoff games in the OJHL with the Trenton Golden Hawks. Because of his stellar play Gehrig was committed to SUNY Potsdam, however has decided to take the leap and go pro.

“Gehrig shows great leadership potential from his junior days that can also add a level of physical play to our blue line. I look forward to what Gehrig can bring to our camp and possibly our lineup as we chase a championship this season.” Coach Tyler Gjurich said about the signing.
