Elmira N.Y.- The Elmira River Sharks have signed Defenseman Cameron Yarwood for the 2023-2024 season. Yarwood came over to Elmira in a trade from the Binghamton Black Bears a few weeks ago. The longtime FPHL defenseman played 2 full seasons at First Arena for the Elmira Enforcers. He played in 97 games finishing with 23 goals and 52 assists.

Yarwood spent his last two seasons playing just down I-86 for the black and green. He played in 58 career games finishing with 16 goals and 45 assists. He will add an explosive touch to the blue line for an Elmira team that struggled defensively last season.

Head Coach Tyler Gjurich on his former teammate coming to join the Sharks, “Excited to have Yarsy a part of this organization. He’s a true professional day in and day out. He has fantastic offensive ability as a defenseman and can play in any situation. He’s the best I've ever seen run a power play. I am excited for the young players we have to be able to learn a lot from Cameron.”

Other than trying to bring a Championship to First Arena, Yarwood will also be the Skills Coach and Assistant Coach for the Elmira Impact, the Junior team that plays at First Arena. Both the Impact and River Sharks will be working hand and hand all season long to bring an exciting product of hockey back to the Twin Tiers and make a big community impact.
